Consilia Reports 11.5% Growth in Private Label Sales

Italian private label manufacturer Consilia has registered a 11.5% annual growth in sales during the first quarter of 2016.

When analysed by category, the growth was as follows: cold (+34.7%), fresh (+11.9%), grocery food (+11.6%), fruit & veg (+4.9%), personal care (+9.8%), house care (+12.1%) and pet care (+10.5%). The only negative sales trend for the Consilia brand products was in the drinks category (-6.9%).

The figures are based on IRI data for total Italian supermarket and hypermarket sales.

Overall, private label sales in Italy between January and March 2016 grew at a lower rate than last year (1.7%). Overall, in terms of product categories, sales were down in the drinks (-2%), home products (-1.7%) and pet care products (-0.5%) sectors. At the same time, there was a positive sales trend for cold (+3%), fresh (+2%), grocery food (+1%), fruit & veg (+8.2%) and personal care (+0.4%) products.

Consilia private label products are sold in stores of the Supermercati Uniti Nazionali (SUN) consortium, consisting of the following retailers: Italbrix, Gabrielli Group, Gulliver, Gros and Cadoro.
