Portuguese hypermarket chain Continente has expanded the bakery offering in its stores, increasing its range of private label bread products.
The retailer says that it is responding to consumer demand, and has created this increased range with exclusive own recipes from bakery experts.
The new range includes traditional Alentejo bread - a 100% wheat bread originating from cereals produced and harvested in the Alentejo region - as well as the Continente 'rustic bread'.
Alternative Offering
Continente says that it has included a number of special breads in this bakery range, aimed at consumers who are focused on their wellbeing.
This includes bread made from wheat flour but filled with flaxseed, sunflower and sesame seeds, oatmeal and soy flakes; whole wheat flour, cranberries and currants; spelt wheat, quinoa, buckwheat and millet; 100% spelt flour with lupine, sunflower and sesame seeds; red quinoa, poppy, flaxseed, sunflower and sesame seeds; amaranth flour with chia and poppy seeds; and wheat bread with sunflower seeds and carob flour, which is high in fibre and low in sugar.
