Portuguese retailer Continente has said that 96.4% of its customers purchased at least one private label product in 2016, reports Diario de Noticias.
On the 25th anniversary of the launch of the Continente private label brand, the hypermarket chain, owned by retail group Sonae, has published a number of sales figures on its products.
According to the retailer, 60% of the total products marketed by the brand have been sourced or manufactured in Portugal.
Portuguese Production
In the first nine months of the year, from January to September 2017, Continente sourced 20 million litres of Portuguese milk, and sold more than 20 million yoghurts that had been produced in the country
Additionally, the retailer said that 95% of its paper products, such as napkins, tissues, toilet paper and kitchen rolls, are produced nationally, adding that it has sold close to 80 million rolls of Continente private label brand toilet paper so far this year.
