Portuguese retailer Continente has received two international packaging awards for its potatoes and and range of branded hams.
The products were handed out at the Vertex Awards - awarded for their packaging design developed by designers from the Continente's Directorate of Brands & Concepts.
The packaging of Continente potatoes took the silver prize at the awards, for the strengthening of the product's attributes and the communication of origins, by using a more rustic image.
For its part, the range and selection of hams was handed the bronze medal for the classic wooden background, icons for each region and the symbols of each country, as part of the global range of flavours.
The Vertex Awards are the only event exclusively directed to private label packaging design. The winners are decided by an expert panel of the worldwide industry and awarded based on creativity, marketing and innovation parameters.
Continente recently introduced the Continente Light Potato, a new private label product, with fewer calories but with the same flavor. The specific variety was selected through a natural process and appropriate farming methods, which guarantee a product with 30 per cent less calories to a normal baked potato.
