Coop Sweden has announced that it has introduced private-label juices and water in bottles made of recycled PET plastic.
Presently, the retailer is offering own-brand juices, smoothies, freshly squeezed juices, Coop shots, still and carbonated water in the new packaging.
'Low Environmental Impact'
Head of product quality and development of Coop's own brands, Anna-Karin Lindberg, said, "We strive to design packaging that has as low an environmental impact as possible.
"It is, therefore, gratifying that we are now taking a big step [towards establishing] a cycle for the plastic bottles we sell under our own brands."
Intitiatives To Encourage Recycling
The retailer also introduced a deposit scheme on PET bottles, to encourage consumers to ensure that the bottles are properly recycled.
In 2017, the retailer recovered 84% of all PET bottles through its deposit system.
