Italian retailer Despar has expanded its Equo Solidale Despar and Despar Premium private-label ranges to include new products.
The new additions to the Equo Solidale Despar range include Amazon organic nuts, Amazon cashew nuts, Amazon mixed nuts, macadamia and cashews.
The Fairtrade-certified Despar nuts are available in sustainable packaging that can be resealed after use to prevent food wastage.
Through this initiative, the retailer, along with the Chico Mendes Cooperative of Modena, supports the work of small local dry-fruit producers in Brazil, Bolivia and Chile.
The retailer will also introduce three new special-edition products to the Despar Premium range from 1 December.
These include Mortadella of Mora Romagnola, produced from pigs bred in a semi-wild state and fed mainly with acorns and chestnuts; Salame di Varzi DOP, obtained from wild pigs and produced using traditional methods; and an aged Parmigiano Reggiano.
The new products will go on sale in Despar, Eurospar and Interspar stores across Italy.
