Russian retailer Dixy has announced an increase of 40% in the in-house production of ready-to-eat meals for its Victoria stores.
These products account for up to 20% of Victoria's sales turnover, and includes hot dishes, salads, pickled foods, bakery products, and desserts.
The retailer has increased the assortment of products available in 49 stores, and its centralised in-house kitchen currently manufactures over 320 tons of ready-to-eat meals per month.
“With the introduction of the new ‘light’ Victoria store format, where compact sales area may not allow to allocate a large kitchen or bakery, the in-house kitchen helps to considerably expand the assortment of [ready-to-eat] meals,"said Oleg Zhunikov, director of Victoria division at Dixy Group.
"Centralised production also plays a major part in assuring unified product quality standards for all stores."
