Dutch retailer Jumbo is celebrating 10 years of the launch of its private-label range.
The retailer now has almost 9,000 private-label SKUs in its range, including groceries, desserts, wines, and other innovative items like meat substitutes.
In 2008, the retailer launched around 500 products under its private-label brand. This initial range included items like frozen fish, vegetable preserves, breakfast products, and sandwich spreads.
The retailer also set up a test lab to allow customers to taste new products and offer their feedback.
Innovative Products
In 2017, the Jumbo Innovation Lab was launched to develop new and healthy food items in collaboration with suppliers and product developers.
The initiative resulted in products like oatmeal portions in different flavours, breakfast muffin baking mixes, kale burgers, and pumpkin balls.
Recently, the retailer has also been focussing on products that are in line with the latest food trends. It has introduced around 40 SKUs to its vegetarian line - Veggie Chef, as well as launching a range of oriental meals.
