Spanish retail giant El Corte Inglés has announced an initiative through which it will seek to make shopping for gluten-free and other free-from categories easier for consumers.
The retailer has teamed up with Federación de Asociaciones de Celíacos de España (FACE), the Coeliac Federation of Spain, to introduce a new gluten-free product range within its Special Line private-label portfolio.
The new range will include products such as bread, cakes, baking ingredients and noodles, and will bear a certification mark, “Controlado Por FACE”, indicating its association with the organisation.
El Corte Inglés boasts around 500 product lines across its variety of private-label sub-brands, including El Corte Inglés, Hipercor and Special Line, that are gluten-free or have low levels of gluten.
The retailer is introducing an in-store promotional offer at the end of this month to promote the new range.
On 27 May, FACE celebrated its annual 'Dia Nacional del Celíaco', or National Coeliac Day (pictured).
