Spanish retailer Eroski has announced the launch of a new range of meat products to be marketed under its gourmet brand, Eroski Seleqtia.
The new meat varieties are produced by more than 250 stockbreeders that are members of the Harakai cooperative that promotes the 'Baserria Km0' distinction, which pays particular attention to the feeding, handling and conditions of cattle welfare, which in turn determines the quality of the meat.
The cooperative's beef carries Eusko Label certification.
Eroski has been working with the Harakai cooperative since 2012 with the aim of promoting and marketing beef certified by the Euskal Okela PGI.
Supporting Local Producers
Commercial director with responsibility for local products at Eroski, Asun Bastida, said, “Eroski’s commitment to local products is a strong support for producers, as it allows them to sustain their way of life and defend their work.
“Along with producers, the main beneficiary is the consumer, not only because his territory is preserved, but also because he or she is guaranteed a high level of quality, more affordable prices and is able to identify the origin and authenticity of the cow with total security.”
