Italian Private Label Sales Grew By 1.7 Per Cent In 2015

Italian supermarket purchasing consortium, Supermercati Uniti Nazionali (SUN) has reported a 1.7 per cent growth in private label sales in 2015, with peaks for fruit and vegetable (up 6.7 per cent) and chilled products (5.7 per cent).

The analysis carried out by the Business Intelligence unit of the SUN consortium, based on IRI data, also shows increased sales in the private label Beverages (1.2 per cent), Ambient Grocery (1.4 per cent), Personal Care (1.5 per cent) and Fresh Produce (0.9 per cent) categories.

On the other hand, private label household and pet care products both saw a drop in sales in 2015 of 1.5 per cent and 3.7 per cent respectively. last year.

In the case of products of SUN’s private label brand Consilia, total sales were up by 16.1 per cent, with the highest growth registered by chilled products (44.8 per cent).

The other categories under the Consilia brand that saw significant growth were beverages (12.5 per cent), fresh (14.5 per cent), ambient grocery products (16.1 per cent), home care (17.1 per cent) and pet care (12.1 per cent).
