Dutch supermarket group Jumbo has launched a new series of fruit cakes which contain as much as 40% fruit, which are aimed at children.
The 'Fruit Poffertjes' range contain only natural sugars, and are available in apple and raisin flavour and banana flavour. They are also a source of fibre and contain less saturated fat than other snacks.
In a statement, Jumbo said that it was launching the new products in order to assist with childrens' recommended daily intake of fruit. The cakes come in a 24 pack that is priced at €1.89.
The Netherlands has one of the lowest levels of childhood obesity in Europe.
