M&S has unveiled its new Active Health range of prepared meals, all of which have been developed to help actively reduce cholesterol.
Each dish in the range contains oat beta glucan, a type of fibre naturally found in oats that helps in reducing cholesterol and supporting heart health.
The retailer as created the range, which is supported by cholesterol charity HEART UK, as a convenient way of getting 1g out of the daily 3g of oat beta glucen recommended by experts.
As well as being cholesterol-lowering, M&S says that the meals are labelled as ‘Eat Well’, as they are low in saturated fat, and are packed full of wholesome ingredients like oats, fish, lean protein, and at least one portion of vegetables.
Dishes in the Active Health range include Red Thai Chicken Noodles, Moroccan Spiced Meatballs with Quinoa Cous Cous, and Five Spice Pork with Chilli Rice, as well home comforts like Slow Cooked Beef & Vegetable Hot Pot, and Chicken Coq au Vin & Cheddar Cobblers.
Emma Broughton, M&S Product Developer, commented, "We want to make healthy eating as easy and delicious as possible for our customers and our new range of Active Health meals do exactly that.
"Diet can play a key role in keeping your heart healthy and we’ve used a key ingredient, oat beta glucan, which naturally lowers cholesterol to create these tasty dishes – from comfort food favourites to exciting new flavours."
