German retailer Netto Marken-Discount has announced that it has launched a new sustainable own-brand meat and meat products range - Stallglück.
Currently, the range is limited to chicken products, and is available in 3,800 outlets in Germany.
The retail giant will also add pork and beef products to the Stallglück range in the coming months.
The new brand will also be rolled out in another 400 Netto Marken-Discount outlets in southern and eastern Germany, the company said.
Sustainable Meat
The meat used in manufacturing the products is 100% German, and is sourced from animals that feed on GM-free food.
The product also comes with the German Animal Welfare Association label - For More Animal Welfare.
This guarantees that the meat used in the new range is sourced from farms that provide better living conditions for its livestock than prescribed by law.
President of the German Animal Welfare Association, Thomas Schröder, said, "With the sale of meat products with the animal welfare label more consumers have an alternative purchase and can be aware of [...] more animal welfare."
