German discounter Netto Marken-Discount has launched a new fruit and vegetable range, 'Markttag', which focuses on quality and transparency.
The Edeka subsidiary will be combining popular items from its 'Erntefrisch' and 'PremiumN' private-label ranges under this new brand, which offers consumers 'the highest transparency possible' through clear origin labelling.
Highlighting Origin
'Markttag' will include over 40 fruit and vegetable products, with each one given an individual QR code. Customers can scan the products' codes in store or at home to receive more information and trace the item back to the producer or packer.
"Through the QR code, we provide our customers with reliable information about the origin of their foodstuffs, and thus strengthen their confidence in the quality of our products," said Stefanie Adler, head of corporate communication at Netto Marken-Discount.
The packaging design will also highlight one of four product categories: regional, German, international or premium.
The new 'Markttag' range is now available in all 4,170 Netto branches throughout Germany.
