Italian retail group Pam Panorama has launched Veg & Veg - an organic Private Label brand aimed at vegetarians and vegans.
The line includes 150 specialities containing only protein-type plants such as tofu and natural seitan, as well as vegan mushroom sandwiches, and soy hot dogs, Neapolitan soy burger and morsels of oatmeal, just to name a few.
According to Eurispes, nearly six million Italians have opted for a vegetable-type diet, while 3.5 million families have done similar, an increase of 13 per cent over the previous year.
Meanwhile, Pam Panorama has continued with the rollout of its new and innovative format, Pam Local, by opening three stores in Rome (taking the total to eight), as part of plans to open 20 such stores in Bologna, Rome, Turin and Milan by the end of 2015.
The neighbourhood convenience stores give priority to quality, practicality and convenience within a reduced sales area (200 m2), offering products at low prices, as in large Pam stores.
