German discounter Penny has announced the introduction of the Nutri-Score label on selected private label products.
The first products to bear the label will be a selection of over 50 SKUs from the retailer’s organic private label, Naturgut.
The retailer is launching a double-page information booklet about the Nutri-Score system, which will explain the definitions behind the label.
Clear Vote
Commenting on the initiative, Stefan Magel, divisional board member at REWE Group and chief operating officer at Penny said, "A consumer survey by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture has given a clear vote in favour of the Nutri-Score system.
“We are a competent and reliable partner for our customers, especially when it comes to balanced nutrition. This is why we are introducing the Nutri-Score on our own brands, starting with our Naturgut products.”
