Dutch retailer Plus has announced that it will introduce a range of sustainable, private-label dairy products with the 'On the way to PlanetProof' label from the Milieukeur Foundation.
The move is aimed to minimise the production and distribution of dairy at the expense of the environment.
Consumers can directly extend their support to dairy farmers who adhere to high standards of animal welfare and implement sustainability measures by opting for products with PlanetProof certification.
The 'PlanetProof' Range
The own-brand products comprising semi-skimmed milk, whole milk, buttermilk, vanilla custard, low-fat yogurt, and full yogurt will be available in Plus stores by the end of March.
The retailer's first private-label Gouda cheese with 'PlanetProof' certification will be launched before the summer of this year.
By the end of 2019, all locally produced fruit and vegetables sold in Plus stores will meet the criteria of 'On the way to PlanetProof', the company said.
