Private label sales in Italy during the first seven months of the year have grown by 1.8 per cent in value and 0.9 per cent in volume, according to an Iri study for L’Osservatorio Marca-BolognaFiere.
The private label market share grew to 18.6 per cent of FMCG, with sales of €9.7 billion in the 12 months ending in July, close to the peak of 2013.
Driving growth of private label were organic (+9.5%) and premium brands (+11.6%).
The market analysis by Iri, which was conducted in late July 2016 confirms that price deflation persists in the market (-1.5%) and indicates a decrease in the efficiency of the promotional pressure.
