UK grocer Sainsbury’s has developed two new ‘Christmas turkey wines’ to match the flavours of a Christmas dinner. Developed over three months, the wines balance the different flavours of white and dark meat perfectly, said a spokesperson for Sainsbury’s.
Taste the Difference Viñedos Barrihuelo Rioja Crianza is a spicy red wine with blackberry fruit aromas. Viñedos Barrihuelo Rioja Blanco is a white wine with a hint of citrus fruit. “Our research shows that people are confused about whether to drink red or white wine with their Christmas dinner,” said Sainsbury’s winemaker Lucy Clements. “What does make a difference however is the flavour profile of the wine and this is more important to get right than the colour. That’s why we have created two wines designed especially for Christmas dinner.”
The wines are retailing at £5.99 until January 3. (20 Dec)
