UK retailer Sainsbury's is launching its first-even range of men's formalwear, as well as a premium menswear range, both under its private label clothing line, Tu.
The two new ranges will be available online and in up to 250 Sainsbury's stores across the country from 17 October.
The Tu Formal collection focuses on locally-sourced fabrics, and includes two British wool three-piece suits, costing £160.
Meanwhile, the 20-piece Tu Premium collection features key trends for the season, including jeans, wool blend coats and knitwear.
Growing Brand
Sainsbury's says that sales of menswear increased by almost 13% in its stores last year, giving the retailer confidence to invest in a broader range of products.
“Menswear is the fastest growing area of Tu clothing and, having had a fantastic response to our premium womenswear launch, we wanted men to have a similar choice of high quality, on trend styles at fantastic value," said James Brown, Sainsbury's commercial director.
"The new Tu Formal and Tu Premium menswear collections, designed to be a cut above typical menswear supermarket clothing ranges, allow us to go head-to-head with high street brands.”
Sainsbury's notes that sales of Tu clothing have grown by more than 20% over the past three years, allowing the supermarket chain to become the UK's sixth biggest clothing retailer by volume, and tenth by value.
