Italy’s Selex Group has reported a 17% growth in sales of its private label wines in 2016.
Turnover surpassed €11 million, with 3 million bottles sold. This represents a 14% growth in volume.
Citing Vinitaly data, Selex claim the results are positive when compared to the overall performance of the market, where sales last year grew by 2.7% in volume and by 4.4% in value.
Within the Le Vie dell’Uva private label line, which includes 62 wines, the largest growth was seen in sparkling wines (+40%) with prosecco leading the field.
Classic wines also sold well, in particular those wines belonging to the line dedicated to regional winemaking, which registered a 24% growth in sales.
This year, Le Vie dell’Uva plans to introduce five or six 'bio wines' to its line.
