Système U has commenced new talks with the dairy cooperatives which provide its private label milk products, LeFigaro.fr says.
The supermarket chain has said that it will ‘will engage in these negotiations in order to improve the price of milk paid to producers, and will seek to achieve guarantees in this area.’
It says it has opened a fresh round of negotiations with its dairy farmers because of the ongoing ‘situation in the dairy sector.’
Regarding this, France’s Fédération Nationale des Producteurs Laitiers recently met with the minister for agriculture Jacques Mézard who deemed the rate of payment as it stands as “not at a sufficient level.”
