Tesco UK has on a trial basis implemented what it has dubbed the Tesco 'Try Before You Buy' private-label food offering, which allows shoppers to sample Tesco’s own ready-to-eat foods before purchasing them, TheGrocer.co.uk reports.
The range of private-label foods includes lunchtime products, such as fruit, sandwiches, salads and crisps, and will initially be tested in six Tesco supermarkets in the UK. Larger-scale distribution for the range may come to pass if the test is deemed successful, with particular emphasis on metropolitan areas.
Tesco commented, “We are really proud of our products, and we want to make it easier for customers to purchase them with confidence, so we are trialling a 'try before you buy' scheme in a limited number of stores.
"We will be listening to customer feedback throughout the trial."
