UK retailer Tesco has been egged on by its receipt of Good Housekeeping's Easter Egg of The Year for the second year in a row, the company said.
Private label brand Tesco's Finest Belgian Milk Chocolate Hidden Egg beat 'luxury artisan rivals' for the top spot.
The Tesco egg received a score of 80/100, and shares the honour with Bettys Trio Spring Flower Eggs. The champions were decided in a blind taste test.
The panel of judges lauded the Tesco sweet's "decadent look and 'meltingly smooth chocolate.’"
The Good Housekeeping Institute rated 127 different Easter eggs on their looks, aroma and texture to decide the best options for kids, teenagers, adults, sharing and free-from.
The retailer also received second prize in the Hot Cross Bun tasting with its private-label Extra Fruity Hot Cross Buns, which were praised as "delicately spiced" with "plenty of fruit".
