The next edition of MarcabyBolognaFiere – the International Exhibition and Conference dedicated to private-label products – will be held on 16 and 17 January next year, at the Bologna Exhibition Centre.
It is organised by BolognaFiere in collaboration with ADM, Italy’s only event for the private-label sector and Europe’s second-largest trade fair for this market.
Apart from the traditional pavilions 25 and 26, the event will also be held in the new pavilions, 29 and 30.
The two pavilions are being rebuilt as part of the renovation and requalification project taking place at the Bologna Exhibition Centre.
It is part of an investment of €100 million, in order to create a total exhibition space of 140,000 square metres by 2022.
The Participants
More than 500 companies have registered to take part in this edition of the event.
Twenty-three major retail brands represented on the Marca 2019 Technical Scientific Committee will also participate in the event.
The new entries include MD S.p.A., SUN Supermercati Uniti Nazionale and Acqua & Sapone.
The other participants are Auchan, Carrefour, Coop, Conad, Coralis, Crai, C3, D.it – Distribuzione Italiana (Sigma, Sisa), Despar, Iper, Italy Discount, Leader Price Italia, Marr, Pam – Panorama, Selex, Simply, S&C, Tuodi, Unes, and Gruppo Vege.
The Role of Marca
The results of the last edition of Marca demonstrated further growth and confirmed Marca’s role in Italy as a reference point and much more for retail groups, producers and distributors.
A total of 9,538 visitors meant an increase of 21% compared with the 2017 edition, a trend that is particularly positive and can be viewed alongside the 15% increase in the number of exhibitors (706 in total), and the 11% increase in exhibition space sold.
The event’s international credentials were also boosted by the attendance of 80 foreign delegations from 19 countries, with a notable presence of category managers from the world of retail.
It was also supported by ICE, the national agency for the internationalisation and promotion abroad of Italian companies.
Marca hosts conferences on the latest issues in the MDD sector. The entire sector is growing, and private labels are progressively establishing themselves as genuine brands that respond to consumer needs and can be viewed alongside industrial brands.
It was the first time in 2017 that private-label mass-packaged goods generated more than €10 billion in revenue, with a market share of 18.7%.
