Italian retail group Unes has won the 2016 National Award for Innovation in Services for its 'Il Viaggiator Goloso' pop-up store, based on the retailer's private label range of the same name.
The award was conferred by the Italian General Confederation of Enterprises, Professions and Self-Employment (Confcommercio), the largest business association in the country..
Unes was awarded, according to Confcommercio, 'for having developed in the city of Milan an innovative temporary store format'.
The store was open during last year’s Christmas and New Year’s festivities in Milan. During the opening period, Unes achieved a turnover of €48,000 per square metre with over 40,000 visitors. A total of 12,000 panettone Christmas cakes were sold; an average of about 400 units per day.
Private label accounted for 38.5% of total sales at Unes last year, of which 6.4% were from the Il Viaggiator Goloso range.
