UK retailer Waitrose has announced plans to relaunch its eco-friendly household cleaning range ECOlogical with packaging improvements and new fragrances.
The retailer will use recovered and recycled ‘ocean-bound plastic’ for packaging some of the products in the range.
The initiative is expected to remove about 4.1 tonnes of virgin plastics from its operations per year, Waitrose added.
'Eco-Friendly Products'
Waitrose buyer, Sarah Miness, said, “Our customers are more aware than ever of their individual impact on the environment, from wanting less food packaging to being environmentally responsible with their household jobs.
“The relaunch of our popular Waitrose ECOlogical range gives our shoppers a range of eco-friendly products to help their homes sparkle and which also look good enough to be promoted to countertops rather than banished beneath kitchen sinks.”
The ECOlogical product range, comprising 17 SKUs, is vegan and vegetarian friendly.
It contains a minimum of 98% naturally derived ingredients and is free from phosphates or ammonia.
New Fragrances
The relaunch will also see the addition of four new fragrances to its household cleaning range.
These include grapefruit and lemongrass, lavender and rosemary, blood orange and rosemary, white ginger and bergamot.
The retailer will also offer refillable versions of these products, allowing customers to reuse trigger sprays.
Waitrose has pledged to switch to recyclable, reusable, or home compostable packaging by 2023.
