US retail giant Walmart has launched a new line of Italian food products under its Sam's Choice private-label range.
The Sam's Choice Italia range has been developed with the Italian Trade Agency, working with multiple large suppliers that are all based in Italy.
The line features 40 products, including pasta, sauces, tinned tomatoes, balsamic vinegar, frozen pizzas and ready meals.
Michele Scannavini, president of the Italian Trade Agency, said that the organisation is committed to "bringing authentic Italian offerings to American households".
“The Sam’s Choice Italia recipes have high-quality ingredients from right here in Italy, so we can guarantee an authentic Italian experience for customers.”
Own-Label Innovation
Walmart says that this is the first time that the Italian Trade Agency has worked with a US retailer on a full line of private-label products.
“Teaming up with the Italian Trade Agency is one of the many ways our Sam's Choice brand brings authentic gourmet foods to families across America at everyday low prices," said Jack Pestello, senior vice-president for private brands at Walmart US.
“Sam’s Choice Italia is just the latest example of how Walmart is continuing to improve and innovate our private-brand offerings," continued Pestello.
The range is now available in 3,600 outlets, as well as Walmart's online store.
