Belgian retailer Colruyt Group has announced that its renovated, low-energy store in Binche will reopen on Wednesday, 8 August 2018.
A store preview is being organised from 5 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, where snacks and drinks will be offered to customers.
The store has been expanded and restyled and will now rely on sustainable technology for its cooling system and heat recovery ventilation.
Store manager, Jean-Louis Drugmand said, "This project is part of a more comprehensive renovation plan: by 2029, all Colruyt Group stores should be low-energy stores. The group's CO2 emissions have to go down by 4%.”
A Better Shopping Experience
The new butcher department has been designed as an open workshop. This will allow customers to see butchers at work and interact with them in case of a special delivery.
Customers will "have a nice overview of the range of meat, cold cuts and salads", Drugmand added.
The fresh department is larger with wider aisles and the store has been rearranged to enhance the shopping experience.
In April this year, Colruyt partnered with Eoly to build a large green hydrogen system and also launched an anti-litter campaign.
