Around 68% of Swedish consumers aged 26-35 years plan to change their eating habits this year, Coop's Matometer survey has found.
According to the study, residents from metropolitan areas and women (73%) were most interested in incorporating changes in their food habits.
Eighty-two percent of the respondents were confident of succeeding in their attempt to change their eating habits, while 3% believed otherwise, and 15% were unsure.
Major Trends
The survey found that around 25% of the respondents wanted to reduce their consumption of sweets and confectionery.
Among them, 31% were between the age group of 25-36 years, and 28% were women.
Other changes that respondents wanted to incorporate were eating healthier food, and increasing the consumption of vegetables.
Food Waste
The study also found that one in five Swedes, aged below 35, intend to reduce food waste at home.
Around 17% of the respondents, between16-25 years expressed interest in cooking and preparing more food at home.
The study included 1,300 respondents in Sweden, and was carried out with the help of Demoskop.
