Croatian food and retail conglomerate Agrokor has said that it is investing more than HRK 35 million (€4.7 million) in rewards for its employees this Christmas, with workers set to receive a Christmas bonus of HRK 1,500 (€202) and a children’s gift of HRK 600 (€80).
This bonus is 50% higher than that offered by the retailer the previous year, and follows an agreement between Agrokor's Extraordinary Administration and trade unions representing the group’s workforce.
Additional Reward
“This agreement is important as an additional reward to our employees who have [...] been faced with a number of challenges which we have been able to overcome as a team,” commented Fabris Peruško, extraordinary commissioner at Agrokor.
Peruško added that the bonus both showed appreciation for the work undertaken by the group’s employees, as well as indicating the trend towards improved working conditions.
“The contribution of each individual employee, whether it be from among the sales people of Konzum and Tisak, employees from food production at Ledo, Jamnica, Zvijezda and PIK Vrbovec, or our colleagues from the agricultural production at Belje, VUPIK, PIK Vinkovci and other operations, shall be equally important in the forthcoming period, where our focus will be on creating a viable future for Agrokor and all its operating companies.”
Union Agreement
Commenting on the agreement, Denis Paradiš, chairman of the PPDDIV union, said that he “saluted” the administration’s decision to offer a “Christmas bonus to Agrokor's employees in the amount higher than the one defined in the Collective agreement.
“We expect such decisions in the future as well that will surely have an influence in keeping the current workforce and increasing employment.”
