Dutch retail group Ahold has commenced work on a new automated distribution centre in Zaanstad, which is expected to be completed in mid 2018.
The new facility will serve the group's Albert Heijn stores, and will be approximately 23,000 square metres in size.
The facility will also feature 6,380 solar panels, and provide electricity for the local area.
Ahold worked with Vanderlande on the warehouse automation facilities at the site.
