Ahold Delhaize has announced that Marc Croonen, its chief sustainability, transformation and communications officer, is leaving the company.
Croonen is scheduled to depart Ahold Delhaize on 1 November.
Commenting on the departure, Frans Muller, Ahold Delhaize CEO said that he would like to thank Croonen for his “valuable contributions to Ahold Delhaize. He helped shape and drive our aspiration to be a leading sustainable retailer, installing clear and tangible targets to measure our progress.
“We have significantly improved in the core areas in which we know we can make the biggest impact in our brands and communities: increasing vitality through healthier food, reducing food waste and running an inclusive business.”
Smooth Transformation
Muller added that Croonen played a “key role” in enhancing the brand’s reputation and ensuring a “smooth transformation” after the merger of the Royal Ahold and Delhaize businesses.
“He leaves the company ready for its next phase,” he said. “We wish him all the best in the future."
The company noted that it plans to maintain a strong ‘sustainable retailing’ agenda, and that it will announced its strategy relating to same at its Capital Markets Day on November 13.
Share Buyback
Elsewhere, Ahold Delhaize announced that it repurchased 1,471,652 of Ahold Delhaize common shares in the period from October 15, 2018 up to and including October 19, 2018.
These repurchases were made as part of the €2 billion share buyback program announced on November 8, 2017.
