Ahold Delhaize has named Farhan Siddiqi its new chief digital officer and member of the retailer's executive committee, effective 28 January 2019.
Siddiqi has been described by the company as an 'experienced professional', and previously served as the chief digital officer of McDonald’s.
He was responsible for the fast food chain's digital transformation, and steered the launch of its mobile commerce in around 20,000 outlets.
Under his leadership, McDonald’s launched a new mobile app, and upgraded its self-service ordering kiosks.
'Best Practice Sharing'
President and chief executive of Ahold Delhaize, Frans Muller, said, "Farhan will drive best practice sharing in digital and eCommerce across our great local brands while leveraging our global scale, supporting us in doubling net consumer online sales to around €7 billion by 2021.”
He was also involved in data analytics, and modifying the restaurant chain's customer relationship management capabilities.
Before joining McDonald's, Siddiqi held key positions in Bank of America, Target, and General Electric.
His primary role was to implement successful customer loyalty programs, provide digital payment solutions, and launch strategic partnerships.
