Ahold Delhaize has announced that it has nominated Jan Zijderveld as a member of its supervisory board, effective 14 April 2021.
Zijderveld is an experienced professional who spent almost 30 years at Unilever in several senior management positions in 7 different countries.
He served as the CEO and president of Unilever Europe and a member of Unilever’s executive team.
In 2018, he stepped in as the chief executive of Avon and left the company in 2020, after a successful turnaround of its business.
Under his leadership, the cosmetics giant acquired The Natura & Co.
Currently, Zijderveld holds several advisory functions.
'Extensive International Experience'
Chair of the supervisory board, Peter Agnefjäll, said, “He [Jan Zijderveld] will bring extensive international experience, consumer insights in a broad range of products and valuable knowledge of the global retail space.
“With his arrival, we found the skills and competencies that will be important to the supervisory board as Ahold Delhaize is executing its Leading Together strategy and the supervisory board continues to evolve.”
The supervisory board will propose the appointment to the Annual General Meeting on 14 April, the retailer added.
