Dutch retailer Albert Heijn has announced that Saskia Egas Reparaz has been appointed the new general manager of its Etos drugstore banner.
In addition to this, Jan-Derek Groenendaal will be responsible for European Strategic Projects, supporting Albert Heijn CEO Wouter Kolk in his previously announced new role at Ahold Delhaize in Europe and Indonesia.
"Today's appointments are a fine example of talent within Ahold Delhaize and the opportunities it offers. I wish Saskia, Marit and Jan-Derek every success,” said Kolk, who is also the COO of the Netherlands and Belgium at Ahold Delhaize.
New Appointees
Saskia Egas Reparaz has been marketing, format, communication (MFC) director at Albert Heijn for the past three years, and promoted a more transparent communication style to the group, the company said.
Under Groenendaal’s leadership, Etos has been voted Best Drugstore in the Netherlands three times, with the retailer adding that the brand has been renewed to focus more on health and beauty.
Albert Heijn said that, as a result of these appointments, it has created the new role of executive vice president of commerce. Marit van Egmond will take on the role, and be responsible for marketing, format and merchandising and sourcing.
The Dutch retailer was recently named the most sustainable supermarket chain in the Netherlands by the Sustainable Brands Awards 2018.
