Dutch retailer Albert Heijn has announced it will launch a pilot mobile Pick Up Point, on Thursday 8 September. The concept is a more flexible Pick Up Point, to accommodate a temporarily increased demand. The pilot Pick Up Point will be based at the Albert Heijn branch of Zuiderhaven, in Harlingen, in the north of The Netherlands.
The mobile Pick Up Point will operate in the same way as the regular Pick Up Points: groceries ordered online are collected and delivered to the 'mobile' collection point. At this location, customers can collect their groceries - or choose to have them packed into their booth by Albert Heijn staff.
The pilot location of Harlingen will be particularly useful for the residents of Terschelling and the island's approximately 500.000 annual, mostly seasonal visitors - allowing them to pick up their shopping on their way to the ferry terminal.
The pilot mobile Pick Up Point will run until the beginning of November and will be open on Thursdays and Fridays, from 4.00 to 8.00 pm and on Saturdays, from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.
