Dutch retailer Albert Heijn (AH) has opened a new Albert Heijn XL store in Zaandam, just outside Amsterdam.
Located at the Zaans Medical Centre, about 15km from Amsterdam’s city centre, the new store will offer a large assortment of fresh products such as fruits, vegetables and herbs, freshly roasted nuts and a complete AH take away section.
The store is equipped with a range of energy-saving measures, including fully-equipped LED lighting with motion sensors.
Together with the locals from the Zaanse municipality, AH is implementing its ‘Samen Zanns’ concept, which works together with four local entrepreneurs (The Bakery, De Koffiezaak, Fresh Flowers en Slagerij Van ‘t Oever) to deliver local fresh products, according to the retailer.
Convenient Location
The Zorgboulevard location of the store is prominently situated on one of the most prominent approaches to Zaandam and is therefore easily accessible.
Sharing the locality with the local medical centre will also provide an opportunity for residents and people from Amsterdam to combine hospital visits with shopping, the retailer said.
On the motorway side of the store there’s also a pick up point, where customers can collect groceries ordered online on ah.nl.
