Discounter Aldi is planning to invest around €100 million on a further 20 store openings across Ireland over the next three years.
The Sunday Independent reported that the retailer’s expansion will create around 400 new jobs.
"Our business model is pretty simple,” Aldi Ireland chief Giles Hurley told the paper.
“There's not a hugely complex strategy. We want to make a store available to everybody in Ireland. Our belief is that by doing that we'll continue to develop our sales and our market share.”
New stores have been earmarked for Ennistymon, Co Clare, Trim, Co Meath and Leixlip, Co Kildare, according to the report, with other stores planned for locations in Meath and Kilkenny among others.
Aldi currently holds 11.3% market share in Ireland, according to Kantar Worldpanel.
