Aldi Süd To Fund Reading-Support Charity 'Mentor'

German retailer Aldi Süd has announced it will support German charity 'MENTOR - The Leselernhelfer Bundesverband eV' - for the next three years, with a total funding of €140,000.

'MENTOR - The Leselernhelfer Bundesverband eV' is a charity, established to help children and young people to improve their reading skills. In collaboration with their school, the MENTOR volunteers read aloud with the children and help to improve both their reading and diction by building their confidence and enjoyment of reading.

"It makes us glad when the children start sharing a pleasure of reading with their mentors and that way gain access to books and education," explained Kirsten Gess, Head of Communications at Aldi Süd.

The support for the educational agenda of the MENTOR charity follows the company's long-standing engagement with the German Auridis Foundation. This is a not-for-profit organisation, which develops social projects aimed at families and pre-school children.
