Vassilis Stavrou, brand president of Ahold Delhaize’s Greek subsidiary Alfa Beta, has decided to step down.
In 2018, Stavrou joined Alfa Beta after serving as brand president for Mega Image in Romania.
Prior to this, he served as senior vice president of business development for Central and Southern Europe (CSE) and Indonesia.
'In-Depth Retail Experience'
Wouter Kolk, CEO Ahold Delhaize Europe and Indonesia, said, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Vassilis [Stavrou], who made many contributions during his varied and longstanding career at our company.
“He is well known and respected for his passion for people and building great teams. His in-depth retail experience and care for others is unique and will be remembered by many.”
Stavrou began his career at Ahold Delhaize 28 years ago as a warehouse manager and worked his way up to hold roles in the quality assurance and food safety departments.
He then joined the human resources team and held various positions within the Delhaize Group, including senior vice president of human resources, organisational development and sustainability for Delhaize Europe.
Interim Brand President
Meanwhile, brand president of Albert and brand leader for the Central and Southern Europe (CSE) region, Jesper Lauridsen, will serve as brand president of Alfa Beta on an interim basis until a successor is appointed.
Lauridsen will work closely with the local leadership team and supervise the subsidiary’s growth in the Greek market.
