German organic retailer Alnatura is opening a new supermarket in Moabit, part of the Mitte district of Berlin.
This will be the retailer's 16th and largest outlet in the city, featuring over 6,000 organic products, and the opening will create 14 new jobs for the area.
Sustainability
The company says that it is important that 'as many fresh products as possible come from Berlin and Brandenburg', to support domestic agriculture and reduce emissions by having short transport distances.
Sustainable design is also used in the supermarkets, with store furnishings made from renewable raw material wood, natural stone tiles, and recycled materials.
Alnatura currently operates 116 supermarkets in 11 countries, employing over 2,850 people. Around 1,300 different organic food products are produced under the Alnatura own-brand.
