ICA Gruppen has announced that Anders Nyberg, the top boss of Apotek Hjärtat, has decided to retire in the fall of 2021.
The company has initiated a process to find a successor to Nyberg.
He will continue as CEO of Apotek Hjärtat and a member of the group management of ICA Gruppen until a new CEO is appointed, the company added.
'A Market Leader'
Per Strömberg, CEO and President of ICA Gruppen, commented, “I would like to extend a warm thank you to Anders Nyberg, who in recent years has developed Apotek Hjärtat from a challenger to a market leader.
“It is a journey that has included the development of a leading e-commerce, the acquisition of Min Doktor, and to utilise the strength of being part of ICA Gruppen by running and establishing pharmacies in connection with larger ICA stores.”
Company Veteran
Nyberg is a company veteran who served in various roles, including area manager, head of business development, regional CEO, deputy CEO, and member of group management.
He served as the chief executive of Apotek Hjärtat for the past 12 years.
Apotek Hjärtat is one of the largest pharmacy chains in Sweden, employing over 4,000 people in more than 390 pharmacies across the country.
