UK retailers Asda and Tesco have both announced that they are cutting fuel prices by up to two pence per litre at their filling stations.
“This is excellent news for motorists," said Simon Williams, fuel spokesman for motor services company RAC. "But it’s particularly good to see a major supermarket reducing the price of diesel in line with petrol as the wholesale costs of both fuels are currently very similar."

Asda has announced that it is introducing a national price cap of 111.7 pence per litre at all of its 305 filling stations across the country. Meanwhile, Tesco is also reducing prices on both petrol and diesel at its 500 UK filling stations.
Luke Bosdet of motoring group AA, said that "UK average petrol prices have been stuck at around 116.5p a litre for the past six weeks and drivers were wondering when they were going to see the benefit of lower oil prices".
“Asda and some of the other supermarkets have been trading at 4p below the national average for some time, making them the go-to places for cheaper fuel.”
