French retailer Auchan has said that it will gradually make its array of banners more homogenous in an effort which is to place greater emphasis on the Auchan brand itself.
Patrick Espasa, the director of Auchan Retail France, has described the move as a ‘new step’ for the French grocer.
The process will entail bringing all its retail channels – supermarkets, hypermarkets, e-commerce, and convenience stores – under the umbrella of one ‘digital brand’, RetailAnalysis.IGD.com.
It is anticipated that more details regarding this will be made public in the coming months.
Auchan also recently agreed terms for a joint purchasing contract with Boulanger.
