Auchan has unveiled a new supermarket format in Italy, opening a 1,500 square metre Auchan Supermercato store in the city of Brescia.
The new store, which was previously a Simply supermarket, was refurbished as part of the retailer's €1.3 billion rebranding plan, which aims to make its retail banners more homogenous, and place greater emphasis on the Auchan brand.
The main feature of the new supermarket is a broader assortment of foodstuffs, with particular attention to organic, healthy, and vegan products, as well as personal care and pet care items.
Shopping Experience
Auchan Italia says that the store introduces 'a new way of shopping and living', with a bar and a relaxation area where customers can eat and drink.
The shopping area includes a fresh fruit and vegetable section, bakery, butchers, and fishmonger. There is also an area for cooking demonstrations.
The retailer says that the shopping experience is enhanced with innovative digital solutions, such as self-checkout, self-scanning, and a new smartphone payment system, which will soon be activated.
Additional services for customers include mobile phone charging, photo printing, photocopying, booking tickets for events, and picking up school books.
