Spain's Organización de Consumidores y Usuarios (OCU) has named Auchan Retail as Spain’s least expensive food retailer for the eighth consecutive year, the company stated in a press release.
Branded as Alcampo in Spain, its store in Vigo, Galicia was found to be the least costly supermarket.
The country’s oldest consumer interest body travelled across the country and visited nearly 1,200 stores, analysing the prices of more than 230 food and drugstore products, including private label and own-brand products.
Auchan Retail emphasised that Alcampo staff had been 'working hard, for many years, to improve the purchasing power and the quality of life of their customers by offering the best products at the lowest price.’
