French grocer Auchan will open its first supermarket in Romania, where it currently operates hypermarkets and convenience stores, by the end of 2017, reports SeeNews.com.
The outlet will have approximately 2,300 metres of floor space, and will be located in the Bucur Obor commercial complex in Bucharest.
Auchan Retail Romania general manager, Ionut Ardeleanu said, "We are pleased to announce the signing of the partnership with Bucur Obor SA, a partnership that will allow us to take another step towards the development of our proximity trade."
Auchan currently operates 33 hypermarkets and four convenience shops in Romania. Last autumn, the company authorised wage increases to attract staff.
