Auchan Retail España has posted what it describes as 'satisfactory' results for FY 2015.
The group, which includes all the Spanish retail formats of Auchan Holding (hypermarkets, supermarkets and e-commerce), closed last year with sales of €4.594 million and an investment of €80 million, destined mainly to the building of new shops and facility modernisation.
According to GranConsumo.tv, Grupo Auchan decided to simplify its structure during the last quarter of 2015 with the objective of 'improving results and creating a bigger margin' within its retail and banking operations, which led to the creation of the Auchan Holding business.
Auchan Retail Spain operates 337 retail outlets (56 hypermarkets and 281 supermarkets, of which 159 are franchised), 53 petrol stations and an e-commerce service. It employs a workforce of 18,000 people.
Auchan Retail continued to develop through the year, opening 40 new stores. One of the most outstanding openings was Alcampo City, in Alicante, a new-format hypermarket with a surface of 4,000 square metres.
Auchan Retail closed 2015 with €3.585 million worth of purchases from Spanish suppliers.
